I'm having a hard time nailing down exactly what I'm looking for so I'll try and explain.
In media there are sometimes characters who have a way of speaking or narrating about something in a way that feels profound or spiritual. What comes to mind is Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai when he's narrating. That way of talking about something, even if it's mundane, as if it's the most important thing you've ever experienced.
I'd also include a lot of Cormac McCarthy's writing under the label. And Terry Pratchett's Discworld, especially his Death series.
I don't think I'm looking for a book that is basically a religious text that talks at me. I'd rather a story that tries to convey a message through its story
