For those without NYT sub's, this article talks about how the luxury brand bags and clothes have skyrocketed in price while they quality is down into the toilet. Bags made for forty bucks selling for four grand. That sort of thing. Boots that cost an arm and a leg that fall apart after a few wearings.
This just reinforces my resolve never to buy such things for anyone. And that anyone who buys them is rather foolish with money, especially if they aren't a billionaire who can afford to waste so much money.
