As someone who has been close to people in this lifestyle for many years, I follow the posts here with interest. I find many of them to be very informative and I applaud both SDs and SBs for their thoughtful insights and the advice they give.
As someone who is a lawyer, I've always been keenly interested in contractual relationships that aren't memorialized in writing. Certainly most of what transpires in this lifestyle fits that definition.
Many years ago in the state of California there was a HUGE blockbuster headline-grabbing lawsuit that, back then, was described as a "palimony" lawsuit; where a woman sued the man who supported her and to whom she had dedicated her time and effort and much of her life in exchange for his taking care of her. The headlines were lurid and scandalous back then and people pretended to be shocked at the transactional nature of the relationship. A type of relationship, everyone knows, has existed for millennia. Interestingly, the court ruled in favor of the plaintiff and awarded her damages ... not "alimony" which is what an ex wife gets... but "PALIMONY" which is what a companion gets when the provider pulls the rug out from under them and breaks the arrangement.
There have been other similar cases across the US in the decades since then... and when the evidence supports the claim, SBs tend to come out on top and win.
Just food for thought that i was inspired to share... idk it it matters but to me its an interesting footnote to the post by the dude who'sgoign to break up with his SB after one last "tryst"....🙄🤦♀️
