Hey guys, just installed a really cheap build to my truck and hear a whining noise out my sub. Any help?

It’s an old ford ranger that I work on from time to time. Sounds like the alternator is causing the whining. From what I know it’s something with the ground, saw a trick using speaker wires around the rca cables. Can someone explain this to me in dummy terms? Really new to all this and just wanted a lil bit of thump in my trunk. Kicker 12 and a 600 watt jensen amp on a boss head unit. Would appreciate help or any tips.
