That means it can handle this right?
Ok...so here is what I suggest to people who don't have the proper equipment to set gains and can't afford (or just don't want) to have someone who does to do it. Find out the output voltage of the head units or LOC. Can be found in the manual under specs. MOST amps, not all, but most have graded gain adjustments. Find the spot that would amount to the same voltage. ie: 4v outputs on an amp would be between 2v and 6v( about a quarter turn).
Chances are u less you are running Jensen or crunch subs, you won't be over doing it. And although I do agree that some can tune by ear, just as I could myself after 18 years of installing, I would much rather be safe and trust scopes than sorry and out of a whole bunch of money. But hey, to each their own I guess. I'm just happy another member of the basshead fam is getting their shit right and tight. Bass on bro

I'm assuming you mean set the gain on the amp to match the output voltage of the head units preamp output voltage. Gain is NOT a volume knob. When using a dd1 or an oscilloscope to set gains, you don't even have speakers hooked up to the amp.
