Love them or hate them, you definitely have an opinion about them. I personally love them. I've seen them perform live. I saw David Liebe Hart in the most uncomfortably awkward performance of my life. I helped set up Palmer Scott's (Sit On You) AMA a few months ago. I have David Liebe Hart and James Qualls phone numbers, we've talked on the phone a couple of times.
So yeah, I'm pretty ballin'.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim are the creators of Tom Goes To The Mayor, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, Check It Out!, with Dr. Steve Brule, their movie Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie, and the hilarious Absolut Vodka commercials. Tim Heidecker is now starring in the film 'The Comedy' which is one of the weirdest and most endearing films you'll ever see (currently sitting at 82% on RT). They many celebrity cameo appearances, Paul Rudd, Will Ferrell, Rainn Wilson, Jeff Goldblum, and Flight of the Conchords, to name a few.
Their humor is very hard to define. At times it's the 'so not funny, it's funny' but other times it is just gut bustingly hilarious. It's definitely not for everyone though. I originally hated T&E. It took many unwanted viewings forced by my friends for me to finally start enjoying it.
r/timanderic was one of the first subreddits I sought out when I joined reddit. I knew the sub was the best way to stay up to date with new projects, music videos and commercials directed by the two, watch funny clips from the shows, anything and everything T&E related, it's there. Check it out, ya dingus!
For your health.
And with that, I leave you with this clip, which is my favorite T&E skit.
1. What inspired you to create r/timanderic?
o85: I asked the mod team StepPeppers and badcrumbs if I could have mod spot about a year ago. I knew the subreddit was going to blow up because of the movie and second season of Check It Out!. I felt the subreddit deserved more attention than it was getting. I did a bit of CSS work, changed a few things around, and sure enough it starting growing at a steady rate. I think we had less than 1,000 subscribers when I became mod. I also did a phone interview with David Liebe Hart which dealt with issues such as drug usage on the set and other weird shit. I think that helped us grow as well.
2. What should people expect to find on your subreddit?
o85: Anything and everything related to Tim & Eric, Check It Out!, cast members, movies, skits, spoofs, goofs, news, whatever. It's all there. It's more than just silly dogs dancing and funny happy birthday spevs.
3. Favorite T&E skit?
o85: Hard to say. Off the top of my head, the Cinco Face Time Party Snoozer. The concept is ridiculous. Actually, all the Cinco products are over the top stupid. I love it. The Poop Tube, Pasta Bear & Universe skits are also favorites of mine.
4. What was your first reaction to watching Awesome Show for the first time?
o85: I absolutely hated it. I thought it was the dumbest shit I'd ever seen in my life. A few years later, after stumbling home drunk, I turned on the TV and T&E happened to be on. I guess it just "clicked". I couldn't control my laughter. It was the puberty episode. I've been a huge fan since. Sadly I wasn't a fan when they came to my town.
5. What were your thoughts on T&E's Billion Dollar Movie?
o85: It was alright. It had its moments for sure. Overall though I didn't think it was that good. I thought the other short films they've done were a lot better.
6. Anything else you'd like to say? To your subscribers or people interested in joining your subreddit? The floor is yours.
o85: Oh, I love my Rosie child
She got the way to make me happy
You and me, we go in style
Cracklin' Rosie you're a store-bought woman
You make me sing like a guitar hummin'
So hang on to me girl
Our song keeps runnin' on
Play it now
Play it now
Play it now, my baby
Abso-lutely.
Thanks to o85 for taking the time to do this interview with me! Give it up to your subreddit of the day!
