I’ve been on MAT since September 2021 starting at 2 8mg strips per day. Now I am down to 1.25 strip (half AM, .25 lunch time, half at bed time). I’m also in a virtual out patient program for therapy which is required to be on MAT in my area.

My wife and I are doing well in life (she is 100% healthy and never had a drug or alcohol in her life), we have enough substance to start having kids. But we are concerned because I’m on suboxone treatment for kratom addiction subsequent to opioid addiction.

My question is: Regardless of sperm count itself which may be affected by prior thc or current suboxone use, would there be anything necessarily wrong with my sperm itself? Like would the suboxone cause my babies to be defective somehow?

If so, I obviously want to wait until finished. But it could take a long time to be off subs… I’m scared of that.

I’m 33. My wife will be 28 this year. We’re ready for babies. But I don’t want to put the babies at risk if there is something physically wrong with my suboxone sperm.

Just curious. Please let me know if any doctors on here or others with this experience
