HEAVY spoilers, don't read if you're new.
So, I've played before. I did most of the story-- built bases, explored the ocean and the Aurora, generally dorked around. I also played in creative and saw the alien castles, the leviathans, the Lost River, all that jazz.
But until now, I'd never buckled down to play through the whole game in survival. I felt like I was climbing this massive mountain-- gathering endless resources to build and outfit my Cyclops, to make my base an oasis of comfort and practicality, making all the parts of the Neptune, and constructing all my specialized gear. I went down into the lava river twice in my Cyclops, I mapped out the biomes, I found all the pods. Then I met the Emperor, then I was on a new quest to gather the plants and then....
Suddenly it was over. The planet is cured. The Emperor was done. My rocket is built. My time capsule is prepped. It's over. All that climbing, the struggle, the mystery... just to look down at this magnificent planet and then... fuck off? ...What do I even do with myself now?
(I beat Below Zero between playing & finally beating Subnautica)
