If the Stupid Sluts Club had a mission statement, it would be perfectly encapsulated by the description in the sidebar. To be an area for like-minded sluts to socialize, play, and challenge one another, a judgment-free space for those who want to feel degraded, hurt, and ruined, and who crave a community of others who want to help them feel like the trash they know they are deep down inside.

But what does this mean?

Alice (/u/alicetrouble) created the Stupid Sluts Club almost five years ago as a maybe tongue-in-cheek, maybe dead-serious reaction against a widespread culture of safe sex and ethical sluttery:

I see a lot of things in other subreddits about making sure to be safe when you're getting fucked. But that would take away most of the fun, wouldn't it?

How do you all like to be unsafe? Fucking strangers with no protection? Taking something so you can't think straight before you go out and party with your friends? Asking him to hold you by the neck and choke the shit out of you until he cums in your hole?

Hopefully we can all find ideas that other people have tried that sound so fucking risky and stupid that we've just got to try it ourselves.

This is the essence of the Stupid Sluts Club, the two elements that were present since the beginning and set us apart from other sex-driven and slut-positive subreddits: a deep sense of community and a complete disregard for personal safety in the pursuit of sexual pleasure — the very definition of wanton abandon.

We have grown a lot since then — from a community of barely 100 sluts and slut-lovers to 6,000 members in three years, and then 60,000 one year later, 130,000 one year after that, more than 210,000 now.

However, in subreddits such as ours, growth isn't always a good thing. As time went on, we have become a bit less extreme and a bit more vanilla (or, as Alice frequently notes, a lot more boring) and it has taken away from some of the community feel that once existed here. It has diluted some of our distinctiveness. And that is the reason for this reflection: it’s time for a course correction and a return to our origins.

Recently, we have been flooded by submissions and comments that not only skirt the subreddit’s rules and guidelines, but also suggest that their authors are not taking the time to get to know the Stupid Sluts Club and what we are really about. This results in too many off-topic submissions that just end up being removed but sometimes drown out the types of post this subreddit was made for.

So, what submissions best embody the spirit of the Stupid Sluts Club?

Have you had any adventures inspired by one of the special challenges we’ve posted in the subreddit? Are you dying to share the story of how you did something stupidly hot in public, with a real chance of being caught and real consequences of you had been? Do you want to talk about that time you were so turned on that you decided to jump off the figurative (or literal) deep end regardless of the risk — or even better, the time you were so turned on because of that risk? You will be right at home here! If it’s a story that shows you’re a stupid slut, this is the place for you.

Okay, but what is a stupid slut? What sets us apart from your run-of-the-mill regular sluts?

In one word, attitude. Being a slut means putting physical pleasure first, trying new sexual things, and not caring about your sexual reputation. Being a stupid slut is all that, sprinkled with a healthy disregard for consequences. A stupid slut is an otherwise intelligent, independent, and strong woman^† with agency — who just so happens to use that agency to choose to be a massive whore. Whether you like to go out with something planned or prefer to let spontaneity rule your slutdom, it matters not. As long as you go and be actively slutty!

This is a very important requisite and one of the most common reasons for the removal of submissions. A stupid slut does it, first and foremost, for herself. She is the principal agent of her own depravity and she participates in SSC not to make someone else happy but because she wants to. Submission may be slutty, but when you repeatedly refer to some other as your master, daddy, and the likes, when slutness is something that happens to you instead of something you choose for yourself, that is not in keeping with the spirit of the Stupid Sluts Club.

We have the utmost respect for all other sex- and slut-positive subreddits out there and believe they each play an important role, which is why we also often remove submissions that were first or are subsequently shared to other subs. Note that this is not in any way a demand for allegiance — quite the opposite. Our understanding is that when you post a story to /r/stupidslutsclub only to turn around and post it to /r/gonewildstories and /r/sluttyconfessions, for example, you are fundamentally eroding the elements that make each of these subreddits unique and worthwhile on their own — and making your own story less relevant to each of them in the process.

Similarly, we may also remove submissions if we feel they would find a better fit elsewhere. Your short confession-type posts would probably be better received over at /r/sluttyconfessions. Your comparatively vanilla stories would likely be more at home at /r/gonewildstories. If you want to ask a random question, that is what /r/askredditafterdark is all about — or conversely, if you have some unique perspective and want to be asked about it, try /r/nsfwiama/.

Any /r/dirtyr4r, /r/randomactsofblowjob, or /r/randomactsofmuffdive success stories should definitely be posted at /r/dirtyr4r, /r/randomactsofblowjob, or /r/randomactsofmuffdive. In fact, any reference to hook-ups after meeting someone off of Reddit or elsewhere online may (and almost definitely will) result in removal too. In part, because those post tend to focus heavily on the very fact that you fucked someone you met online, which — let’s face it — isn’t exactly a spectacularly slutty thing to do in [current year]; but also because we have learned from experience that most of the responses will be from thirsty creeps hoping to be next in line. Yawn.

Sometimes we get submissions asking for relationship advice or whether to pursue someone you have a crush on, which is frankly baffling because the only acceptable answer to that type of question that you should ever receive here is YES! WHY ARE YOU EVEN ASKING? Fuck him and fuck his best friend, his best friend’s daughter, and the next-door neighbor too, while you’re at it.

And fuck consequences.

After all, this is the Stupid Sluts Club.

† So what about male sluts? Can’t guys be sluts too? Yeah, we get asked the same question at least a couple of times a week, and the answer is complicated. It is often said that a slut is a woman with the morals of a man, and by that logic, a male slut would simply be... a man.

Regardless of the positive spin we choose to place on it here, there is no denying that the word slut traditionally carries an aggressive implication and has been used for centuries in an attempt to either restrict women’s choices, or make us feel ashamed of them. There is also no denying that we as a society don’t use labels which place moral judgments on men’s sexual behavior in the same way we do women.

As far as we are concerned, slut is a gender-neutral term. Perhaps there are unknown tribes and circumstances in which a man’s promiscuity carries consequences more serious than a sort of dismissive affection or grudging admiration. And if that is the case, congratulations: you may be a stupid slut. Most of the time, though, you will just be a bit of a man-whore.
