Are Men Who Experience Sexism Valid?
Post Body

You might know me from others gems such as ā€œwould you rather leave your baby with a bear or a woman?ā€. That post was inspired by ANOTHER post asking the same, but with men.

Now itā€™s time I get at what I was actually thinking about:

Are men who experience sexism valid?

Is ā€œI hate menā€ sexist? Iā€™ve heard it argued that that statement isnā€™t sexist, for two reasons. One reason Iā€™ve heard a lot is that you canā€™t be sexist against men cause men donā€™t otherwise face any impacts from sexism. The other argument is of course that the statement doesnā€™t necessarily include ā€œAllā€ men, and therefore is not sexist.

I was raised by an intensely misandrist mother who couldnā€™t stand even speaking to a man after my father left her for his boyfriend, so Iā€™ll admit, Iā€™m probably biased here. I went through a lot.

But Iā€™ve had that used against me too, for example, Iā€™ve been told that the only reason that misandrist ā€œjokesā€ hurt me is because of the abuse I went through, and that otherwise theyā€™re totally fine.

I just wish people would reverse their statements and analyze them before they post them. Maybe then you could recognize your biases before going out and gibbering some seriously hateful, hurtful shit.
