Some backstory, /r/gamerghazi is an anti-gamergate sub, the woke part of that argument. since gamergate died down they more generally discuss stuff relating to internet culture and media. talking about representation not just in movies, but in less popular mediums like comic books. i think they spent a lot of time discussing the various star wars controversies with the recent movies, as another example of the sort of stuff they spend their time on.
Amber heard, sometime ago, accused depp of abusing her. predictably, the people in /r/gamerghazi were on her side. This comment provides some links of them doing so.
more recently it seems to have come out that heard was the abusive one, or at the very least that the abuse was mutual.
as you look thru the thread you can see people being sympathetic to depp, but as the previous linked comment shows, in the past this subreddit (and presumably similar minded people like them) were very confident in rushing to heard's defense. some comments like link explicitly confronts how "Believe Women" turns into "Believe only women". This comment doesn't think highly of the mods, saying they maybe think depp was asking for it.
This comment by the OP talks about how "Believe women" should mean believing them enough to investigate and wait for the evidence, but how in practice this means accepting what accusers say automatically.
in the end, what's most amusing is how these people will likely not learn anything from this. even in this thread, at the bottom, there are people siding with heard, although they're downvoted, but i think plenty of the users on that thread self-reflecting on their "believe women" stance will forget that reflection the next time an accusation is made, because at bottom, a big motivator for these sorts of people is a certain desire to punish people. It's not only about gaining restitution for the victims, its also about finding bad people (even if we have to jump to conclusions to do so) and "exposing" them for their evil. perhaps they'll retreat to the notion that more accusations are legitimate than illegitimate, and that therefore any skepticism or doubt is unjustified.
In addition, its also about asking spectators their opinions on the matter, and if they aren't as forthright with their agreement of the evil of these "wrongdoers" then they cannot themselves be people who want to stay out of the matter because they don't know enough, or want to take a more balanced approach to the matter, they are themselves, perhaps subconsciously (in a way that is neither falsifiable nor verifiable) supporters and purveyors of patriarchy, or rape culture, or some other abstract charge which would be hard to disprove (and if you are able to disprove the accusation, than you are guilty, just like with the accusations heard made of depp) and therefore you should also be condemned, because anything other than enthusiastic agreement is "problematic".
