Information on when Showdown will be updated for S/V

I’ve phased in and out of the competitive scene the past few generations but I’ve never been into it at the same time a new Pokémon game is released. Is there any word or precedent for how quickly Showdown is updated with the new Pokémon?
I’m sure it’s a lengthy process as it’s a community-based service and they wouldn’t have advanced access to the games code or anything.
Have the developers at Showdown said anything about it?
