Post Body

Hello! I've recently discovered pokemon showdown and have been trying to decide on a decent team before I breed and use it in ORAS. This is my first attempt atcrating a competitive team. I mostly avoided using psuedo legendaries because I cant capture my own competitive ones at this point. I'm on mobile so please escuse mistakes. Heres the team:

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Atk / 84 Def
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball
- Protect
- Leech Seed

Ferrothorn is here mostly to counter faries and water pokemon. Power Whip and Gyro Ball are both generally solid even when hitting neutrally. Ferrothorn is also my biggest counter to trick room teams. I originally wanted to use Ferrothorn as a physical wall but I'm kinda concerned that its slow speed is at odds with the rest of the team.

Sylveon @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Pixilate
Level: 50
EVs: 188 HP / 68 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Shadow Ball
- Protect

Sylveon is part of the main core of the team. Generally, my main strategy is just to spam hyper voice for as long as Sylveon is alive. Psyshock and shadow ball are used as coverage moves. I've been considering using choice specs instead of the pixie plate since I usually default to hyper voice when attacking. Sylveon is typically paired up with Mega-Khangaskhan. Probably the most consistently effective pokemon on team.

Arcanine @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 68 Def / 124 SpA / 4 SpD / 60 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overheat
- Will-O-Wisp
- Snarl
- Morning Sun

I needed a fire pokemon and a good support so Arcanine seemed to fit the bill alright. Will o wisp and intimidate can both cripple physical attackers. Snarl hurts special attackers and has the added bonus of hitting both targets. Overheat is for maximum damage output, morning sun to keep Arcanine out as long as possible. Arcanine has been kinda meh to be honest but its had its moments.

Kangaskhan @ Kangaskhanite
Ability: Scrappy
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Crunch
- Protect
- Return
- Power-Up Punch

The power house of the team. I originally ran sucker punce and fake out instead of crunch and protect. I switched to crunch because wrong sucker punch predictions were really hurting me. As for fake out, the original plan was to use fake out on the biggest threat on the field while Sylveon cleans up with hyper voice. In reality almost everybody seems to predict a mega Khangaskhan fake out. I've had more success with protect. Return is for STAB, power up punch is used to set up to break walls.

Milotic @ Assault Vest
Ability: Competitive
Level: 50
EVs: 236 HP / 140 Def / 132 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam
- Magic Coat
- Surf
- Scald

I originally wanted Milotic to counter intimidate pokemon that appear often. Milotic has now proven to be a fairly effective in a variety of sitstions. Assault vest allows it to tank more electric and grass attacks. After a competitive boost, Milotic hits like a truck. I tried running blizzard for a little while but the bad accuracy was killing me.

Latios @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Level: 50
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Tailwind
- Protect

The last pokemon I added to the team. Latios is one of my favorite pokemon and its typing fit my team but its rarely used to be honest. Not really sure if I should just switch Latios out or keep it at this point. Been considering adding Focus sash weavile instead just to counter pokemon like mega Salamence and Tyranitar.

So far, this team has maxed out at around 1280 on pokemon showdown. I seem to have the most trouble against trick room teams, Cresselia, and Heatran. Since, I really never played doubles before any team help or general tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!
