Battle Spot Singles compared to other formats

Hi guys,
I recently got Omega Ruby, and so I wanted to get into BSS. Previously, I've just been playing on Showdown. I've played a lot of OU, UU, etc., and also have played around with VGC and Smogon Doubles, but I've never actually played BSS.
Besides obvious things like the fact that it's 3v3, what are major differences between BSS and the Smogon singles formats?
