I've been trying to get an OU singles team to work based on the following mechanic: My Intimidater comes in vs a physical attacker, immediately switches out (without taking damage) into another Intimidater who gets hit by a move, procs eject button, and switches back into the first Intimidator, effectively lowering your opponents attack three stages without your lead Intimidator taking any damage. This lets you set up for free against an opponent that can barely touch you.
My team so far:
Azelf @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
Stealth Rock
Taunt
Magic Coat/Knock Off
Explosion
Standard suicide lead. Lets me get Rocks up early, can shut down other leads with a fast Taunt. Explosion does serious damage and lets me bring in whoever I want. Knock Off hits ghosts and offers utility, Magic Coat bounces back faster taunts shuts down Mega-Sableye.
Clefable (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard / Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
Calm Mind
Moonblast
Soft-Boiled
Flamethrower
Special Tank to force in a physical attacker. Calm Mind deters special attackers and lets it hit harder. Moonblast and Flamethrower for damage and coverage. Soft-Boiled and Leftovers for recovery. Nothing too fancy. EVs could probably be improved.
Gyarados (M) @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
Dragon Dance
Substitute
Waterfall
Earthquake / Crunch
Gyarados is my primary Intimidator and setup sweeper. He comes in vs a physical attacker, drops their attack, then switches into Scrafty. When Eject Button pops, he comes back in to Intimidate again, mega-evolve and Dragon Dance. Substitute blocks status and increases overall survivability. Waterfall for STAB, Earthquake or Crunch for coverage. Not 100% sure which is preferred.
Scrafty (M) @ Eject Button
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Adamant Nature
Fake Out
Dragon Tail
Drain Punch / High Jump Kick
Knock Off / Thief
Scrafty is my second Intimidator of choice, since he brings plenty of utility to the table. EVs help it survive just about any -2 physical attack. Fake Out finishes off fast Focus Sashers and racks up a little damage for free. Dragon Tail to shuffle opponents. Drain Punch/HJK to hit Dark types, Knock Off for even more utility. I'm considering Thief since he won't have an item, so it might actually be an improvement over Knock Off. Of course, his main role on the team is to get Intimidate off and Eject back into Gyarados to let him set up, but he can also be useful by himself. Other Intimidators could work in his place (Hitmontop?), and I'm open to suggestions.
For the last couple slots, I'm looking for a solid 2-pokemon core to weaken (not necessarily sweep) my opponent's team before I try to force in a physical attacker with Clef and pull off the triple Intimidate setup sweep.
I've considered using something like Sylveon a steel type, but I'm not sure if having two fairies is the best option. I'd prefer a core with status inducers (burn, paralyze, sleep) and maybe Knock Off to get rid of annoying items if possible. I'm totally open to suggestions!
Edit: Changed Scrafty's EVs to a more physically defensive set.
