I want to preface this by saying I've exchange before, once to another state, and this summer to Mexico. I LOVED those experiences. Right now I'm in France, and I've been here for a month now, and it is really rough. I have no friends, which is fine, but my French is really not good enough to like join a school org. or anything. I am here just to learn French, which is certainly happening, but I have a 3 hour block of class in the morning, followed by usually 2 hours of French after an hour lunch break. It's driving me insane to just sit still and pay attention and participate in 3 hours of nothing but French grammar and dictation and stuff. My adderall is illegal in France, and the psychiatrist I went to (that was a different story - my carte vitale didn't work, and it was $$$) was reluctant to give me any meds I wasn't already on, so I am going unmedicated this semester. I hate it so much and it's so hard to pay attention. I'm just lonely and unmedicated and depressed that every day is just hours and hours of using 100% of my brain on French. I know some people here who speak English, but they have not been the best to me so far. How do I survive another 9 weeks?
