I bought extremely expensive tickets through StubHub for the Formula 1 race in Austin in October. We're nowhere near Austin, so I've dropped 7k total on this surprise birthday gift for my husband.
When I was looking over my receipts today, I realized that the fucking parking pass is a paper ticket that has guaranteed delivery the day before the racing starts. We are leaving home the day before that. So there's a big chance we wouldn't get the ticket. I looked back on StubHub and there are e-delivery ones available.
I started chatting with a StubHub CSR, expecting to be able to transfer to an eticket, but no can do. Also can't cancel the order.
I started googling about Stubhub, ended up here, and now I want to vomit after reading the number of scams going on StubHub. The only thing I got confirmation for is that the tickets are being sold by a 3rd party vendor, and not Formula 1 itself. I looked on the COTA (the racetrack where the race is happening) website and at least I can see that the tickets I purchased are booked as sold, though who knows if they're actually sold to me or someone else.
It says that I will get the mobile delivery very close to the event, which makes me feel super-wary, as by then it would be too late. Is that a red flag?
I am now purchasing the (much more expensive) vehicle pass through COTA itself, so I know that will be legit. But I have no idea about the tickets. What are the chances that these tickets aren't legit and I will have paid premium prices to go town where an F1 race is happening, but we won't be able to get in and StubHub won't give a shit? These tickets will definitely not be replaceable, much less at the last second.
Has anybody bought F1 tickets through StubHub? Should I try to get Citicard to cancel the purchases and buy tickets elsewhere? Time is very short to be able to snag tickets and my heart will be broken if i fuck this up.
edited to add: I am going to dispute these charges with my credit card and get them removed. the reason being, when I dug more into the seats, it's the handicapped row. According to the ticketmaster/COTA site, I shouldn't have been able to purchase a ticket in that row unless I also purchased a handicapped ticket. Whoever I bought from said nothing about handicapped tickets, so even if that was a mistake on their part, it's too sus for me to trust.
