I'm so fucking sick of dancers telling eachother to be grateful for every dollar they make because it's more than you'd make at a minimum wage job. I'm subject to sexual assault every shift. MY body and MY mind are at risk of becoming collateral damage every time I interact with a soul sucking crusty.

I can be grateful that I make enough to pay my bills and take care of myself, and at the same time, I can also air grievances about a shift that is particularly draining compared to average.

I should be able to speak with a coworker about how the club has been brutal lately without someone butting in to tell me I make more than people at restaurants or office jobs.

No shit. It's obviously different work at a different payscale. Like there's a reason not everyone does the work we do despite the pay advantages so can we please just support ourselves and eachother when things aren't perfect instead of being the positivity police?

literally spend more on maintaining our appearance than most people spend on their car note every month. and we got all the regular bills too

this is so sweet. I'm lucky enough to have a small support system so I don't go totally crazy, and I love to hear from like minded girls in the industry

I agree OP. Like should I be grateful that I did a dance with a weirdo old lesbian lady who snuck a pocket knife through security and pulled it out at the end of the dance because she thought it made her look cool? Should I really be grateful because I got $20 after house fee? I think that’s worth more than $20 but ok.

I’m grateful when I have kind, generous, respectful customers who are there for a good time so we can actually have a “good” time. I’m grateful for customers who bring in that positive money energy that has all the customers running to the atm. Thats when I’m feeling grateful.

ugh, I feel this so hard. I'm sorry that happened to you. I had a particularly unlucky week recently where I was subject to a couple painful and humiliating situations outside of my control that resulted in customers being banned for what they did to me. we definitely didn't get paid enough for that

You sure live up to your username lol
