Hello!

First of all, thank you for choosing our sub to be a Santa! We really do appreciate you placing your confidence in us so quickly. We realize this subreddit was thrown together like a tornado meets a hurricane, but I think the fact that we developed a Christmas sub in one day speaks volumes to the qualifications, knowledge and dedication of our team!

So who are we all? Our team is composed of former Santas, former mods of assistance related subreddits, and former requesters on those subs.

Over the past few years we have created a wonderful, nutty family of people dedicated to getting help to those who need it. Some usernames you may recognize, others may be deep undercover on an alt, but they’ve all come together with one mission: get presents under the tree for kids in need!

When we decided to create this group, we asked ourselves 4 questions; ‘What do Santas want?’, ‘What do requesters want?’, ‘What do mods want?’ and finally, ‘how do we satisfy all three?’

Below are questions that stemmed from the four questions above.

• Q: How do we vet these users properly?

• A: All accounts, regardless of age, karma score, or even number of children in the household MUST provide photo verification of their address, and a photo including all their kids holding a sign with their username, the date, and our sub name.

• Q: Who can request? What is going to be our minimum account age/karma limit?

• A: Technically anyone who has not received assistance via any other assistance sub in the last 60 days can register with us. However, any accounts under 90 days must also provide additional verification via an active social media page.

• Q: Sometimes these subs can feel overwhelming with Greed. What can we do to fix that?

• A: We have asked that requesters create a list of $100 maximum, per child, with a $30 item limit. They are fulfilled at $50 - this is not a target. Let me say that again for the cheap seats in the back - NOT A TARGET!

• Q: How can we stop soft beggars who comment on every post hoping to get attention?

• A: No commenting on others' request posts! Easy!

• Q: Santas say they get one thank-you at the time of gifting, but then never hear from families again. What can we do to fix this?

• A: Photo thank you’s are MANDATORY before December 27 - after that date, they will be banned from requesting on this subreddit. We give them the offer of either PMing you the pics directly (as well as us so we know you were thanked), PMing us to send them to you (if you wish to be anonymous) or posting them in their own post. Next year there is no question of whether or not thanks was done in private the year before because the ones who don’t will be on the banned list.

Finally, you as a Santa are truly important to us. If you have any concerns, comments, or suggestions, please message us! You guys are a critical key to this operation and we want to make sure we do everything we can.

What are we asking from you? (Besides your money obviously)

• Only purchase from posts that have a flaired requester. Being a flaired user means they have gone through our vetting process. If they do not have flair, do not purchase anything off their wishlist!

• If you have purchased a gift, please post a comment in the request thread with the gift(s) you purchased.

• If you wish to remain anonymous, we ask that you send the mods a message so that we can confirm with the requester item(s) have been purchased for them.

• Please report anything suspicious you find. Our team is dedicated to perfection, but we know mistakes happen and people who shouldn't qualify may slip through. Please alert us ASAP so we can rectify the situation.
