Can't connect to friend's game

I got the game yesterday and haven't been able to connect to my friends game at all. When I try to connect it says connecting and stays like that for a few minutes then it reloads my game. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, used it with administrator on and off and it doesn't work. Can anybody help me? I can provide more info if needed.
