Tornado safety options
Post Body

Hi guys. I like tornadoes just as much as the next Midwesterner, but I am no chaser. I know basic tornado safety or maybe a little better but I am second guessing myself now and am not sure about the structure design I am in. I am normally from the western suburbs of Chicago, but I am staying out quarantine in an airbnb near Starved Rock. Today we already had some fairly string storms, especially further north and west I noticed as I was helping my dad fix a flat out near Dixon, IL. Tomorrow we are supposed to have an slight or enhanced risk for severe weather between 2-midnight, and I will be here till at least the 10th of may or longer. This townhouse I am renting is without a basement or a storm shelter and I don't think this resort has any provisions for public storm shelters. (It's the Grand Bear resort or something). These are built pretty chinsy, and looks like there would be a debris highway from the front to the back of the unit. There are bathrooms with one by the boiler room but it sits near the front of the unit and I'm not sure if it would offer much protection in that case. Would it be better to go pull a couch over myself? Or into a ditch nearby? Understand I'm not freaking out, but I am curious in a serious way with tornado season upon us. Thanks in advance for yalls advise.
