This all coincides with UFC International Fight Week in 2018 in Las Vegas. My co-worker/friend, brother in-law, and I were in Vegas for International Fight Week for UFC 226 - Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier. We were there for all the festivities to include the UFC Fan Experience where we met fighters like Darren Till, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Luke Rockhold, Dan Ige, Curtis Blaydes, and Michelle Waterson.

Everyone was just getting done eating at “Wicked Spoon”, which is a awesome buffet, located in “The Cosmopolitan” and the three of us was full and feeling great after drinking too since they had a bottomless drink option. We had some time to kill before heading to the T-Mobile Arena, so we decided to hit the slots for half an hour. The time comes where we were going to head there and there’s a MGM tram provided at “The Shop at Crystals”.

I head up first on the escalator while the other two get on a little ways back behind me. As I’m halfway up the escalator, there’s this person standing in front of me, in shorts and a tank top and was all tatted up with bleached hair. I started to think and thought this maybe MGK so I got to his side a bit to get his attention to ask “Hey! Are you MGK?” He had an Airpod on and I guess he was on the phone, but he brushed me off saying “Naw, I ain’t him man.”

So I let it go for a second….until I recognized one of his tattoos. I think it was the “Laced Up” or the “North – 17” tattoo he has. I decided to try my luck again and I tapped his arm with the back of my hand and said “Hey, you are MGK. I recognize your tattoos man. Look I’m a fan of your first album and I wanted to see if I can take a picture with you.” This man got so mad and decided to press me on the escalator saying “I ain’t giving you no photo, man. I told you I’m not him!” Not wanting to start anything, I just calmed the situation down and he calmed down saying “Aye, I’ll see you at the fight,” and gives me a slap on the chest. I had a UFC shirt on, so I guess he knew where I was heading.

The guys I was with had no clue who he was and thought some random person was about to fight me and I told them that was MGK. One said why did he get all made and another said maybe he was having a fight with a girl on the phone or he lost some money gambling. I don’t know. Though it was weird he was by himself. So now we’re at the fight, in the nose bleeds, and next to us they had a broadcast booth where we ran into Ariel Helwani and Gennady Golovkin too. Time comes for the main event with Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier and guess who I spot all the way down in the VIP section at ring side. MGK in a sparkly red suit. Long story short, his boy Stipe got KTFO by Daniel Cormier (Both MGK and Stipe are from Ohio).
