I just can't get past the it's a disease part, I believe it is a mental health issue, and that you need to give your self to God. I'm a non believer. Everyone loves to say oh just replace God with whatever. I have been several meetings and it's never that ambiguous. Every therapist I have tried also preaches it as a solution. I kind of feel like social help really isn't available for me.
Edit: just for clarity this post was after an AA speaker meeting. If AA works for you then that is awesome. We all have our paths. I have been struggling a bit lately and was looking for some other options.
