Today marks 90 days of sobriety. It is also my birthday. It is also the first day of my new job, which I posted about in my last post to this subreddit. This could be considered an update to that post. I got an offer to an awesome job opportunity and I had to perform a background check and drug test. I passed the drug test due to my sobriety and I passed the background check by being upfront about my criminal history and my problems with alcohol. They were willing to give me a chance, the catch being if I allow alcohol to get me into any more trouble, I will be let go. I spent my birthday doing some very basic onboarding and hanging out with my kids on their fall break, and then spending the evening with them and my girlfriend.

Sometimes it's hard to quantify the gifts that sobriety gives us. Not today. Today has been blessing after blessing. I am thankful for everything that has happened and want to continue this path.

Thank you again for all that you, as a community, do for people like me. I appreciate this place so much.
