I have seen many people here who feel that AA didn't mesh well with their personal beliefs. I'd certainly put myself in that category, however I would never bash AA as an institution because I know how many people it does help, it's just not for everyone. Anyway, I started looking for alternatives and found SMART recovery meetings in my area. I really love them and am so grateful that I found them. It has made me feel more invested in my recovery than I ever have before and has honestly I'm excited to go to meetings and learn new strategies to manage my addictive behaviors. Now, SMART meets are far less easily available than AA, but if they are in your area (you can look this up online) and you don't find AA to be a great fit, then I really recommend it. Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!
