Have struggled with psoriasis all over my legs for about 2 years now. Iām starting to get little spots over my arms and neck, which is how my legs started before they grew and turned into large patches. No dermatologist has been able to help more than creams that stop it from drying out and becoming itchy/sore, but Iāve also never been honest about how much I drink.
I say a couple of drinks every other weekend with friends instead of the truth - 2 bottles of wine/night at minimum. Iāve been doing this for 5 years now. I donāt know how my legs got so bad and I never did anything about it (didnāt see a doctor until 2 years after first signs) and Iām terrified Iāll wake up one day and my arms will be the same.
I tell myself itās because I have sensitive skin. But I know itās got to be the alcohol. In 5 years I wouldnāt have gone more than 3 days sober, maybe two or three times.
I guess Iām just looking for encouragement that other people whoāve had skin conditions (doesnāt exactly need to be psoriasis - I struggle with rosacea and generally dry skin or over oily on my face which results in pimples and blemishes) have seen them reduce or go away once they cut the booze out.
Writing this after yet another dermatologist appointment who wrote me a script for another steroid cream to try, confused why nothing is working yet, while on my fourth pint of beer at a pub nearby. Iām sorry if thatās triggering and not allowed. Iām just so done. And Iām sick of the āIāll deal with it tomorrowā that turns into weeks, months, years.
