The title is pretty much explanatory, I tore my ACL in April and got surgery in June. Before this, I was a pretty heavy drinker probably around 5/7 days of the week and I’ve gone through long periods where I’d get drunk everyday. I drank two days before surgery but haven’t drank at all since. Initially after surgery, I couldn’t drink because I was on medication and alcohol messes with the body’s healing so I stopped out of necessity. Once I stopped though, I found that I really enjoyed how my body and mind felt without alcohol, even despite being badly injured. Even though I was forced to stop drinking, once I was able to start again I really didn’t want to at all and I’ve had numerous opportunities to drink since then and never even felt like I was close to caving in. It’s not easy but if you get past that initial period when you stop, you’ll see that life is much better without alcohol. Hope my story can help someone else and hope everyone has a great day!
