Hello, I'm a recovering alcoholic - I've been clean for 83 days. I haven't stopped seeing any friends because they're all very supportive, I consider myself a fortunate guy for this. I've found myself drinking caffeine like crazy in social settings and I am contemplating non alcoholic beers as something to drink while around friends so that I'm not wired and anxious after coffee all night.
Has anyone here that have been in my shoes experimented with this? What was your experience? Good/bad?
My thought is that not only will I feel a part of the gathering more but I'll also appear more involved as well for my acquaintances that are not in the know.
Thank you!
I’ve had 4 or 5 Heineken 0s since I stopped. Two this past weekend at a hotel bar waiting for my wife to come down and go to dinner. It was nice and they taste good. Doesn’t trigger me personally, liquor was my main thing so maybe that helps. Each time I’ve had one I’ve said I should get some for the garage, but I haven’t yet.

Give it a shot. Heineken has been what was available the handful of times I’ve gotten them. I was like damn, totally tastes like Heineken. It is strange when you don’t get the buzz. I’ve heard there are lots of good ones out there, but I haven’t had a chance to try them or made a point to seek them out at the store. I will say for me it triggered ZERO desire to then have a real beer or think about alcohol after. Given 4 or 5 over about a year, dare I say I drink them with the same frequency as a non alcoholic light drinker may drink regular alcohol. Haha.
