Do you actually want to stop or do you want the consequences to stop? Imagine that there were no side effects to drinking. Would you still do it? I wouldn’t, and I’ll tell you why: It’s because there are other things I’d rather be doing with my time that I can’t do drunk. So what are they for you?
You might not have any of those things right now, and that might be because over the years they were all replaced by drinking. And maybe nothing really seems that appealing at all. But just pick something, or even better, a few things, to devote yourself to - it doesn’t matter what they are. You will adapt and you will be rewarded x1000 for your dedication and perseverance if you stick with it.
I find this method to be much more effective, especially when it comes to relapse, than trying to quit drinking because you know you should or have to, but don’t really want to.
