A question I was hoping someone who knows more than me can answer... I'm soon going to have my crawlspace (short stone foundation with block on top, dirt floor) encapsulated, but before I cover everything up I want to handle anything that needs to be taken care of. I have a few areas where the original mortar is pretty much gone (see below image). The contractor wants to put spray foam on the stone foundation on the inside since there are really no moisture issues anymore - they were solved on the outside. They told me I don't need to repoint, but I just don't feel comfortable knowing there are potential weak spots. The house is 120 years old so I assume we're in lime mortar territory, so I bought a 40lb bag of NHL 3.5 mortar from that LimeWorks place I've seen mentioned on here. Pretty much what I'm wondering is if there's any reason I shouldn't repoint this. I don't want to mess anything up... I've done this kind of thing before so it's not really an ability thing (though never on old buildings with lime), just more making sure I don't accidentally make something worse! Thanks for your help!!
