Hey guys with the new year around I was thinking what you guys are looking into buying and holding starting Jan 2024.
Here are two screening rules. - must be listed in US (nasdaq or nyse) - must be an index stock with a market cap above 20B
Major factors for me are - interest rate cuts - gen ai - value vs market.
My top 5 picks for the new year: - Amazon. Overall a great company, but with the whole AI race and AWS providing it as a service, I think there will be some good tail winds for this stock in the new year.
Google: the latest AI show and tell from Google was mind blowing. They have a chatgpt killer. I think Google is back as the leader in ai based search.
Palo Alto Networks: cyber security is still going to be big in the next year and Palo Alto is comparative priced better when compared to Crowdstrike and others and they have products that align better for SMBs. So I feel they would have a good upside in comparison to competition.
Adobe: I think this is another gen ai play. I feel with the whole digital media space has been really disrupted with gen ai. I would have loved to see the whole Figma purchase go through but nonetheless I think there is a lot going on here and I will see a lot of general users coming onboard adobe now as the learning curve has just got flatter.
PayPal: this stock has done soo bad and fallen soo much that it’s just dead cheap in comparison to the sp500. With new leadership I feel things are going to see some improvement in the coming year. Fingers crossed.
Tell me what you guys are looking at and your reasons. :)
