I feel that this was a long time in coming but haven't really had the time to say it. I'm resigning as Fleet Admiral of Reddit Alert and House of Snoo and delegating the decision of who the next FA (if there will be one) to the remaining FAs. Before you spam me with questions I will try to answer some of the more important ones below.
Why are you leaving?
I don't really play STO anymore, and there is little chance that I will ever come back to play STO fulltime in the foreseeable future (getting a job, starting life, etc.). My last logons to STO consisted mainly of roster checks, chat lurking, and other administrative stuff. I think that a FA who actually plays often and is passionate about the game like I was should take my place.
What happens to us?
I think that there are many capable hands in the fleet who will step up and take leadership, and lead the fleets and subreddit in the right direction. For those who don't remember, a previous FA and moderator took this whole place into the shit, and it took the help and dedication of many players, myself included, to make r/sto into a subreddit where everyone is welcome. Hopefully the posting rules will keep it that way. Even if you aren't in either of the Reddit fleets, everyone who creates meaningful discussion is a valuable part of this subreddit; it's what makes small subreddits like r/sto good and draws more subscribers. Never forget that.
What happens to you?
I'm graduating university as an engineer (fuck yeah engineers) at the end of this year so I'll be busy starting life and all that business. As for games, I'll be playing Torchlight 2 for a while, and then Planetside 2 for a long time. There is a great and active community for PS2 on reddit over at /r/planetside, and it's also frequented by the developers (yay John Smedley). I know that some of you will probably be interested in playing with me. Currently it's in beta so you will need to grab a beta key in order to play (they're being handed out everyday... look around).
I will remain moderator of r/sto for the time being since it's still growing, but my interaction will be limited to checking the spam filter and banning trolls. I might still make a few minor additions to the FAQ but what you see now is probably its final form until someone else feels like slaving working on it.
That's pretty much it. I wish all of you good luck, and I look forward to r/sto having a few thousand subscribers someday. Live long and prosper!
