How it works: It's very similar to Cure Space where you have to defend a ship (Civilian Freighter) from battle groups. After each wave, you are given 30 seconds to prepare yourself for the following wave, and after the fifth wave, this respite is reduced to 15 seconds. You fail the mission if the freighter reaches 0 health. After each wave you are rewarded dilithium: completing wave 1 rewards 100 dilithium, wave 2 for 200 dilithium, and so on. After beating nine waves, which took about an hour, I gained 4400 dilithium. Dilithium rewards are only for testing purposes. When this mission goes live it will probably reward pieces of equipment like the other fleet actions.
I got to Wave 10 with four people (someone left after Wave 7), and then failed the mission. Overall it is pretty difficult as you have to constantly worry about healing the freighter, as well as each other. Our team had no escorts in it. There were two cruisers, two sci vessels, and a carrier (Atrox). I will test it in my Advanced Escort to see how things work out.
Edit: some more info
So far I've seen three enemy races: Romulans, Gorn, and Orion.
There is NO cooldown for this mission. It seems to be a fleet action like Starbase 24.
The mission is designed to get very difficult at wave 6, with near-Starbase 24 numbers of ships as you approach wave 8 . There are a total of 10 waves if you can make it that far.
Torpedo Spread, Scatter Volley, Gravity Well, and Tyken's Rift are naturally very effective abilities. Mines are also good for taking out the smaller ships; the D'kora's concentrated tachyon mines are especially effective at taking out enemy capital ships.
This mission lets science ships and cruisers really shine. Escorts are good too, but more than 2 and you probably won't have enough healing to keep the freighter alive.
