I do not love my stick shift, a 2018 Toyota iM. The stick throw is excessive, first gear is geared too low, second gear is geared too high next to first, and the throttle response is tepid at best. The driving experience does improve in third and beyond. It's actually really nice on the highway but i do little of that with it, especially since covid. Last week I parted ways with my 1994 Honda Civic, after driving it for twenty years, and it is my (gold) standard for a fun driving stick. I thoroughly enjoyed driving that old thing, right up to its ratty end. (I suppose it's worth nothing I had a short shift installed early on, and that made a notable difference.)
Do you love driving your particular stick shift automobile? If so, why, and if not, why not?
