Post Body
- Trace my design on stencil paper(I prefer Spirit brand)
- Rub skin with alcohol, let dry then wipe with green soap. Once dried I rub a small amount of stencil stuff on the skin, apply stencil. If it's a small piece I leave the stencil on for about 5 minutes, remove and let it dry while I set my stuff up
- Glove up and rub A&D over the stencil, if you have smudges, gently wipe the A&D off and it will remove the smudges without destroying your stencil reapply A&D, at this point I have my needles set out(never remove from sealed package until your sat down and ready to poke. I tend to use a 7RL for line work even on smaller pieces. I very rarely ever use a 3RL or 5RL unless I'm doing very tight line work or small details inside of a piece. I like to blob some A&D on my glove and on the canvases skin a couple inches from the piece I'm running. Keeps from having to squeeze out the A&D constantly. If your not using A&D one time use packages(needs to be disinfected) your going to have to change gloves EVERY TIME you touch that tube of A&D to prevent cross contamination.
- I dip my needle in my ink(I prefer Dynamic) and very gently rub my needle across the paper towel to remove excess ink(helps prevent pooling) every time I have to re dip I wipe the line I just ran and reapply A&D(I recommend getting in this habit even if your practicing on fake skin or fruit).
- Once I'm finished I apply A&D over the entire piece, wipe and reapply. Then place my wrap over and bam we are finished up!
I hope this helps someone, I very much focus on hygiene and client safety as I believe this is just as important as being able to poke a good piece! Thanks everyone!
