Hey, all! A little over a year ago, I got a bisalp after years of trying to get a doctor to listen to me. Once I had that done, I started to focus on my painful periods and doing something about those.
The doc who had done my bisalp was going to do my hysto, but unfortunately she moved before we could schedule it. Thankfully, I found a new doc who was happy to help me out, which is a miracle in my conservative neck of the woods.
Anyway, yesterday I got a total hysterectomy, uterus and cervix out, ovaries staying. It was done robotically, and overall it was very smooth. The pain today isn't too bad, and I'm looking forward to a life without periods. I'll save a fortune on pads and iron pills!
I just wanted to let anyone who wants sterilization to know that you just need to keep at it. And if you want something more radical like a hysterectomy, which is what I was ultimately seeking, doctors may be more willing to do the bisalp first and go from there.
I'm also happy to answer any questions about surgery with a high BMI, robotic surgery, getting this done in a conservative area, dating, or any other general questions.
Take care, y'all!
