I got hired with no experience in early December of last year. I have been working full time since then and am getting pretty decent at the job but nowhere near ready to take the test. My job however says they want you to wait a year before getting certified, and they word it almost as if it is a requirement. Is this true? because it seems like online through IAHCSMM you can get certified with 400 hours of work which is 10 weeks.
I really just want to get certified before a year so as soon as I have that year experience, I can travel or find another job. My current job was deceptive about pay on the way in, and after talking to some old timers it doesn't get much better.
Also secondary question, is an IAHCSMM certification better or worse than a CBSPD certification or are they equivalent?
