Skipping the Hearing, Straight to Trial
Post Body

I have a BD8 and a SD8. I have been with my significant other for over 1 year, but have known him since we were teens. Last year my SO learned he has a 3 year old daughter, thanks to a drunken night on POF. He has met his daughter a hand full of times, and I have yet to meet her.

In November, SO took BM to a court hearing to get a parenting plan put together. The judge was angry that they haven't worked together AT ALL, and told them to come back after they can make some mutual agreements. The last few months he has been trying to get through BM's thick skull, that he WILL be in his daughter's life. I believe she never wanted SO in SDs life. I believe this started when BM had applied for state benefits, and named SO as the dad. The state took action from there. Parentage and CS have already been established.

Turns out BM applied for HUD housing in a different city than where she currently lives, after they had gone to court. Somehow the court system found out about this, and filed for them to appear at a TRIAL to get the parenting plan together. So there will be (to my understanding) no ifs ands or buts, there will be the judge that tells them they will decide, or the judge will decide right then and there.

I'm excited for this to happen. I'm excited that he will be able to use a court order to see his daughter, without being at the whim of BM. I'm excited that I will eventually get to meet SD. And I'm excited that we will finally KNOW, what our schedules will look like! We have put off so much planning of vacations, and different parts of our life, because we need to know where is daughter will fit in.

I know this won't be the end of the drama. But thank god it will bring us some relief to have court be over.
