This might be strangely niche. But I just got told some surprising information.
My SKs HCBM, went behind my parents back and had a well known ADHD prescriber, prescribe the child a high dose of Conerta right off the bat.
This was again, without my partners knowledge despite them having 50/50 physical/legal/medical
Partner refused to give the meds to child after he complained of hating the side effects and after HCBM refused to get a second opinion with my partner present from a psychiatrist who specializes in adolescent ADHD.
So she took it to court- The court ordered that they see a pediatrician recommended by the court where they would need to follow the instructions of the pediatrician.
Pediatrician said âI will continue to prescribe the ADHD meds ONLY until you see the psychiatristâ this is because she begged the pediatrician to continue writing the scriptâ
Well HCBM refused to see that psychiatrist, until the judge finally realized she was in contempt for getting him prescribed without dads notice in the first place and told her she must attend the psychiatrist appt.
Well at the psychiatrists appointment, he said that SS does not have ADHD and doesnât need to be medicated. That it was harming his growth as well.
But he also said, âI believe your ex wife has a mild form of Munchausen by proxyâ - I was not present at these appointments btw, I heard a phone conversation after while psychiatrist was on the phone with my partner
Iâve literally never heard this term until the Gypsy Rose case- now I am hearing it all the time! Have any of you parents or stepparents dealt with a ex partner or bio parent who has Munchausen by Proxy? How scary.
I truly thought it was wild the lengths she was going and the amount of money she spent on legal fees to try to get SS on them yet would rescues to see a psychiatrist or get a second opinion. Especially when no one (teachers/relatives) had noticed any symptoms or ADHD struggles before this.
(Would love to note- Partner has no issues with medicating child for ADHD if needed, and if well-tolerated⌠SS wrote to Santa âI hope Santa tells Mommy to stop giving me those pillsâ )
