I’m re-reading The Talisman and just got to the section with Richard and Thayer House. I had forgotten how much I didn’t care for Richard. I also can’t remember why Richard was even so instrumental to Jack’s quest?
I remember that he had to go with Jack. I remember Jack dragging him along, saving his life and then basically dumping him downstairs in The Agincourt while he went to get the Talisman.
What I don’t remember is Richard actually ever doing anything to help Jack. I just remember the story making a really big deal about how it had to be the two of them. But then Richard doesn’t do anything, so what was he there for? Am I just forgetting something??
