Minor Spoilers below

So I'm nearing the very very end of the 'Lot and all I think about in this "final showdown" of the book is how similar this group is to the rag-tag group of people King brings together in his Dark Tower books.

• Mears, the freewheeling writer character King loves to put himself into

• Mark, a young gunslinger if I've ever seen one. I frickin' love this kid.

• Jimmy Cody, the apprehensive doctor who goes all-in

• Matt, the "Giles from Buffy" character who does all the research and conveys hard truths to the group

• Father Callahan, who has been searching for something to give him purpose and is filled with holy power as soon as he realizes this is real

It's a rag-tag team that would have never associated otherwise. Well, maybe outside of Ben and Matt being drinking buddies. Everyone has their unique strength to add to the group and I love it. I have a feeling they don't all make it out in the end, though...
