I read Different Seasons in 1983 The original paperback edition With the flower sun leaf and the blowing crescent moon to represent the seasons. Most talk about Rita Hayworth And Shawshank Redemption or The Body But, the deep cut and to me best story is Apt Pupil. It is , in my humble opinion The most frightening novella I’ve ever read (The Library Policeman and almost distant second) No ghosties, haunted hotels or hotel rooms, no insidious clown. But the tale of Two human monsters, one young, one old And the hideous bond they create. If you haven’t read it Read It, it blows the doors off. A creative write from a man who I believe was at the top of his game then. Intense is an understatement
Apt Pupil is an underrated gem; King's portrayal of human monsters is chillingly unforgettable
