I'm confused by the use of P values in this paper. It's been peer reviewed in a reputable journal, but it doesn't seem right to me. I'm referring to the part that says " ... while not significantly different from each other (P > 0.05)". In my understanding, a P value above 0.05 means that the researchers failed to disprove the null hypothesis. But the paper is written as though P > 0.05 means they can accept the null hypothesis. Are these the same thing?
