To my Stash family.. as you may be aware, the “Total Returns” and overall account values in Stash reports these values for the entire life of your Stash account and does not report what is currently in your holdings. This means that if you sell anything at all, these values will be inaccurate forever. I have personally written emails to Stash to ask them to change this way of reporting. However, as one person requesting this, it will not happen. Below I have written a template that we can all send to Stash asking them to change the way they calculate Total Returns and account value. Please copy, edit this to make it your own, and email it to Stash in hopes that we can fix this massive reporting issue.
Here is the email address to send it to.

To whom it may concern,
It has come to my attention that the way Stash reports “Total Returns” and overall account value is not reflective of current positions, but instead reports based on the life of my Stash account. This means that if I sell anything, for any reason, these values are no longer valid and have absolutely no meaning to me as an investor. I understand the purpose and value in buying and holding. However, there are times when I need to sell, or decide to sell. Either because I need the money, or it is time to move money around. Which is completely acceptable.
I am writing this email to request that you change the “Total Returns” and account value numbers to reflect ONLY what is being held in my current positions within my portfolio. This is how this reporting should be done. This is how every other brokerage does it, and I would like for these values to be meaningful to me as a user of your product.
Thank you,
