That and needing help navigating hyperspace in and out of the unknown regions because they aren't charted, but in Rebels that's not even hinted at. He's just a true believer in the imperial cause, and the big threat brewing out there in NuCanon is heavily implied to just be the First Order.
I'd love for them to bring back the Vong. I think they'd be a really interesting element for Filoni to play with as a kind of antithesis to all the force mysticism he's done so far. Also just because Im in favor of any antagonist that isn't "imperialist sith but with slightly different uniforms this time," but I don't really see a place for them to insert it into the timeline until post-sequel stuff. They just change too much to cram them in between films.
Oh I'm not criticizing specifically, it's just a bit more heavy handed at times. I think partly because Mando isnt really the right show for it so references feel more forced.

You're definitely in for disappointment given his character in rebels, the references to him in Mando s3, the way Filoni is desperately trying to retcon the sequels into making narrative sense, use of "heir to the empire" in the trailer, and the outfit Thrawn's wearing in the picture itself.
That said, Id love to see them kind of merge the Chiss Ascendancy story with the empire story.
