So I have this idea that the Hutt Cartels will aggressively expand over the galaxy during the chaos of the Republic's collapse. I also think the remnants of the First Order and Palpatine's Sith troopers will end up becoming like a mercenary culture. Likely we'll see the start of this during the Hutt's rise in the Galaxy. Odds are the troops will be approached by the Hutts and the more stubborn will laugh it off then the ones open to it will gun them down and say to the currently reigning Hutt "Due to a sudden loss in our command structure we've decided it's best to discuss your proposition in more detail."

I do believe the Hutts taking over makes the most since the Empire never messed with them as far as I know and there's a reason Hutt Space is called as such. Jabba was also a Imperial loyalist/sympathizer IIRC so it's not unthinkable that a Hutt who took over after him would share his views or see the potential in a army of soldiers out in the cold.

Besides there's literally nothing to stand in the Hutt's way and they have a golden opportunity for a lot of profit now. There is no reason to not plunder the remnants of the Republic and First Order territories. Which leads me to what I think Rey will be doing I think they'll add a twist like instead of fighting the Cartel's she'll be working for a Hutt. I say this because Hutt's are according to my research deceptively dangerous and she's on Tattooine in the final scene.

I think she'll find out how harsh the universe can be especially if her parentage gets out. I figure a clever Hutt on the rise will learn the truth expose it and put Rey in a position where, working for him would be preferable to being hated and hunted by half the Galaxy. This way Rey could be fleshed out and I like the idea of her being under a Hutt's power especially if it was more of a psychological edge.
