My grandad has just stopped by for a visit, he's a prominent martial arts instructor in the UK and has been for many decades. At one point he was the martial arts instructor to Prince William and Prince Harry so he's a pretty reputable source to me.
I have limited information, only a backstory on him acquiring the lightsaber and a few details about it. I'll upload pictures if he gets around to photographing it which I've asked him to do.
Basically, he was recruited for the original Star Wars film to provide instructions to the Stormtrooper cast on how to break fall. This was taking place at Bray Studios, so I assume this was part of training rather than actual filming (though he did wear the Stormtrooper costume).
During his stay, he was given this lightsaber toy that they were going to be bringing in as merchandise. I've clarified from him that this was absolutely for the first film, and it is not inflatable. The small amount of details I have on it is that it is hard plastic, it creates a sound when it is moving or collides and has a switch that can change the colour of the blade. The batteries it takes are apparently "three torch batteries".
Does anyone have a record of this kind of lightsaber toy for the original film? The only one I can find is the inflatable. I'm pretty excited that he has something very special and I'm itching to see pictures of the thing. Any help identifying it would be greatly appreciated.
