What did the Empire do to the Battle Droids bodies after the Clone Wars?

So we know about the shutdown command, but what happened after that? The Empire is not dumb to realize people could just reprogram the hundreds of thousands of Battle Droids spread though out the Galaxy. I know there are some decommission facilities like on Corellia, but is the Empire responsable for placing those facilities there? How do all of this work?
