I remember watching an interesting video about 10 years ago interviewing people that worked on the set design and props of Star Trek shows.
Here's what I remember: They talked about Matt Jeffries and how they named the Jeffries Tubes after him. Someone talking about going thrift shopping for props and using upside down candle holders as drinking glasses. Someone mentioned the light behind the turbolift in the original series is just a dude with a light on a can that has slits cut into it.
Anything helps. It's been bugging me for years.
