Now, before we all get tied into knots with excitement, it's worth noting that "Big announcements" can mean a whole lot of different things, and your mileage may vary.
The first big announcement was an article with new photos and details about the next episode of Star Trek Continues, as well as an exclusive TrekMovie screening of the episode with a cast Q&A panel and a guest appearance by Michael Dorn (from what I gather, he's not in the episode, but on the other hand, he is Michael Dorn, which is pretty cool).
This is no doubt huge for TrekMovie, for fans of Star Trek Continues and probably quite big for most trekkies living in or near Las Vegas. For the rest, maybe not so much.
Still, there's definitely some cause for excitement! This is TrekMovie, after all; even though it's an unofficial Star Trek blog, it's long been the closest thing the new movies have had to a news site, and it has had a fair bit of contact with the powers that be in the past. So, again, let's not get our hopes up, but at the same time ... let's totally get our hopes up!
